About Pirates Week: Pirates Week is the national festival of the Cayman Islands and is held in November of each year. It is comprised of eleven fun filled days of music, street dances, sports competitions, games, wonderful local food and drink, kids day, glittering parade, sports events for everyone, Heritage Days, pirate invasion and fireworks galore!

Sea Swim History: The Pirates Week 5K Sea Swim is Cayman’s oldest swimming tradition, having started in 1980, and the event each November combines the excitement of Cayman’s Pirates Week festivities with a truly amazing open water experience. Over the years many different Olympic and Elite level athletes have competed in the Pirates Week 5K sea swim including Alex Meyer, Eva Fabian, Oussama Mellouli, Sean Ryan, Emily Brunemann and Cayman’s own Andrew MacKay, Heather Roffey and Shaune and Brett Fraser.

 

Registration: Register for event at the start of the race on the race day. Race caps will be provided upon registration and swimmers are required to wear them to ensure safety during the race. Trophies will be awarded to overall winners as well as winners in each category, plus t-shirts and refreshments for all participants.

 

Cost: CIASA members: CI$25.00. Non-members: CI$30.00.

 

Start and Finish: Governor’s Beach, Seven Mile Beach

 

Registration: Race Day, 6:00-6:45am at race site

 

Start Time: 7:00am

 

Cut-off Time: 2 hours and 15 minutes

 

Course: 4 rectangular loops of 1.25km
