Cayman Islands Aquatic Sports Association

OUR SPORT REGULATORS

CIASA is the recognised national governing body of aquatic sports in the Cayman Islands and is an affiliated member of the organisations listed below.

World Aquatics is the world governing body established the purposes of developing, promoting, organising, supervising and directing the aquatic disciplines of swimming, open water swimming, synchronised swimming, water polo, diving and high-diving.

Union Americana de Natacion (Swimming Union of the Americas) is a confederation established for the purposes of developing, promoting, organising, supervising and directing the aquatic disciplines of swimming, open water swimming, synchronised swimming, water polo, diving and high-diving, in accordance with the rules and regulations of World Aquatics in the Western Hemisphere.

Confederacion Centroamericana y del Caribe de Aficionados a la Natacion (Central American and Caribbean Amateur Swimming Confederation) is a confederation established for the purposes of developing, promoting, organising, supervising and directing the aquatic disciplines of swimming, open water swimming, synchronised swimming, water polo, diving and high-diving, in accordance with the rules and regulations of FINA in Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean.

The Cayman Islands Olympic Committee (CIOC) selects, organises and sends national teams to represent the Cayman Islands to all multi-sport games; assists the member associations in sport development; and promotes Olympism across the Cayman Islands.

 

The Cayman Islands Olympic Committee was founded in 1973 and was recognised by the International Olympic Committee in 1976. From the beginning as a fledging association, undertaking but a few tasks, it has now developed to a body representative of 22 member-sports, with significant undertakings at home and abroad.

The Cayman Island Games Association (CIGA) is an association established in the Cayman Islands to liaise with the International Island Games Association and its Member Federations (including CIASA) to represent the Cayman Islands at the Island Games, a biennial multi-sports games held in odd numbered years.

CARFITA

Caribbean Free Trade Association (CARFITA ) is an un-incorporated association of Federations with responsibility for the organisation of the annual CARIFTA Aquatics Championships. The Organising Committee and Management Committee of the annual CARIFTA Aquatics Championships is passed around in each year to the host Federation.
